The Attainment 8 score for a school measures how well students do in their eight best GCSE results, with the English and Maths scores doubled. We are delighted that our Attainment 8 score for September 2025 was 45.9. The average for Somerset schools was 43.8. As such, students at Preston attain significantly higher than their peers locally.
Due to the lack of SATS results as a result of Covid-19, there was no Progress 8 score for 2025.
40.3% of students achieved a grade 5 or above in English and Maths in 2025.
The average grade achieved in the English Baccalaureate (EBacc) by students at Preston was 4.17 in September 2025. This is compared to a national average of 4.09 and a Somerset average of 3.78.

As such, students at Preston attain significantly higher than their peers both nationally and locally.
The Progress 8 score for a school measures student progress in their GCSEs against their progress at Primary School. The Progress 8 score for September 2024 was 0.23. This means that students at Preston make progress above the national average.
We are also really pleased that our strong curriculum offer means that 56.6% of students achieve a Grade 5 or above in English and Maths. This is significantly above the national average of 45.9% and the Somerset average of 39.8%, placing us fourth in the County.
