At Preston School, Personal, Social, Health and Economic (PSHE) education, including statutory Relationships and Sex Education (RSE), plays a vital role in promoting the moral, cultural, mental, and physical development of all students. Our ambition is for all Preston students, irrespective of their starting point, to develop the knowledge, skills and understanding needed to lead successful lives as active, informed and responsible citizens. Through a carefully planned and sequenced curriculum, students are equipped with the knowledge, skills and attributes they need to lead healthy, safe, and fulfilling lives both now and in the future.
Our PSHE curriculum is built around a spiral model that develops key concepts with increasing depth and complexity from Year 7 to Year 11. It is structured around three core themes: Health and Wellbeing, Relationships, and Living in the Wider World. These themes ensure students engage with age-appropriate content that is relevant to their lives and experiences, while also building resilience, confidence, and a strong sense of identity.
